Daily train extending to noted Hakka center, Meizhou
High-speed train G6340 from Zhuhai to Chaoshan will continue on farther to the famous Hakka center of Meizhou every day when the national schedule for the fourth quarter of this year comes into effect on Oct 11.
After the adjustment, the train will leave Zhuhai at 5:06 pm and arrive at Meizhou West at 10:31 pm. Stops en route include Zhongshan, Guangzhou South, Humen, Shenzhen North, Shenzhen Pingshan, Shanwei, Chaoshan, Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport, Jieyang, and Fengshun East.
Currently, G6340 departs Zhuhai at 11:40 am and arrives at 3:53 pm in heavily metropolitan Chaoshan, which is distinctive for its dialect, opera, music, and tea.
Meizhou in the far northeast corner of Guangdong is known for Hakka culture, which is characterized by reserved behavior, stability, and frugality; and Hakka cuisine, which includes Steamed Pork Belly With Preserved Mustard Greens, signature Salt-Baked Chicken, and other steamed and braised dishes. The city was the foothold of the ethnic group when their ancestors migrated south from the Central Plain to avoid social unrest and upheaval from war and famine.
