The 3rd 21st Century Maritime Silk Road China (Guangdong) International Communication Forum is to be held at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center in Shizimen from Oct 21 to 23.

The theme is Integration of the Maritime Silk Road and Greater Bay Area Development. In addition to a master session, there will be three sub-forums titled External Communication of Greater Bay Area Development, Media Integration in International Communication Innovation, and City Image Building under the Belt & Road Initiative.

Three hundred foreign and domestic guests will participate. They include officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao; heads of nine Pearl River Delta cities; foreign consuls in Guangzhou; world-renowned scholars and experts; business executives; and senior media executives.

Leading the list of speakers are Angus S Deaton, 2015 laureate of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences; David Gosset, founder of the Euro-China Forum; Fan Gang, Secretary-General of the China Reform Foundation; and Chi Fulin, president of the China Institute for Reform & Development. 

A sci-tech corridor will feature a bilingual book exhibition of Thought on Socialism With Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, a 5G+4K/8K+AI intelligentized media display, and a joint cultural-tourism photo exhibition of countries along the Belt & Road.   

Supportive activities include Heavyweights on Campus, promotions of Zhuhai's city images, and circus shows.

First held in 2017, the forum serves as an international platform for exchanges and cooperation under the Belt & Road Initiative. It showcases China   (Guangdong)'s achievements in advancing Belt & Road construction, promoting communication between Chinese and foreign media, and reaching consensus.

This year's forum is expected to write a new chapter, tell a story, and sound a new voice for the implementation of the Belt & Road Initiative and construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. New contributions are expected to be made concerning integration and exchanges between China (Guangdong) and countries along the Belt & Road in economy, trade, culture, science, and technology.

The event is being handled by the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Zhuhai Municipal People's Government under the umbrella of China Media Group and the People's Government of Guangdong Province.
