Music, farmhouse treats, games, farming experiences, and dragon and lion dances are in store for Doumen visitors during the rest of November.

2019 Doumen (Gaishan) Countryside Music Festival

Singing, dancing, instrumental music, electroacoustic bands, and a cheongsam show will be staged at the paddy fields by artists from all over the world Nov 16-17 at Guishan Village, Baijiao Town (白蕉镇盖山村).

Visitors can savor local specialties such as Wormwood Rice Cake, Hengshan Preserved Duck Bundles (Ya Zha Bao), Salty Dumplings, Taro Cake, Roast Chicken and Goose, Glutinous Rice Cake, and desserts.

Those seeking a farming experience and rural leisure can harvest, thresh, catch fish, find their way through a maze, or take part in a tug of war at the paddy field.

Sixth Doumen Rice Harvest Festival

Visitor can enjoy harvesting and grinding rice as children make scarecrows, catch loaches (a tropical fish), and play games. Red ribbons can be tied to a bridge for making wishes Nov 23-24 at Shili Lianjiang Agriculture Sightseeing & Experience Garden, Lianjiang Village, Lianzhou Town (莲洲镇莲江村十里莲江).

Authentic Doumen delicacies such as Hengshan Preserved Duck Bundles (Ya Zha Bao), Hakka Salted Tea, Bean curd Jelly, tea refreshments, and rice crackers will be served, while lion dances and singing are sure to charm everyone.

Furthermore, visitors can learn about farming from the lectures by paddy experts and from touring the Paddy Museum. A quiz will put their knowledge to the test.

Seventh Doumen Traditional Dragon & Lion Dance Invitational

Dragon and Lion Dance troupes will pit skills against each other under two categories: juveniles under 15 years old and teenagers above 16 on Nov 30 at Culture-Sport Square in Xinqing Science & Technology Industrial Park (新青科技工业园文化体育广场).
