Doors closing for two weeks at New Yuanming Palace
New Yuanming Palace in the Lanpu community of Gongbei will be closed Dec 10 to 25 for renovation and maintenance.
Opened to the public in 1997, the national AAAA-Level scenic spot has 18 sites simulating those of the Old Summer Palace (Yuanming Yuan) in Beijing on a 1:1 scale. Now, many roads and pipelines there need repairs.
The palace renovation and maintenance work commenced on Oct 8. Pavement milling, road cleaning, and asphalt paving require the use of heavy equipment, spread dirt, and emit strong unpleasant smells. The entire park will be enclosed to ensure public safety.
