Finishing touches being put on Yingbin Road tunnels
The three additional Yingbin Road tunnels beneath Banzhang Mt are expected to open by June as the walls are currently being finished prior to mechanical and electrical debugging in April.
Concrete pouring for the two roadway tunnels was completed before work halted temporarily for Spring Festival. A 10-cm layer of asphalt and concrete is still to be laid down.

Moreover, the standard enameled decorative steel sheets for the Gongbei-to-New Xiangzhou (Ningxi) tunnel are in place, while some non-standard sheets will be installed after the holiday. Work on the southbound tunnel is progressing more slowly. A set of new-type LED lights will be installed at the top of the two tunnels.
As for the slow-traffic passageway, the wind duct panels have been cast. It is to have a simple and open design with environmentally friendly construction materials, soft lights, and smooth ventilation.
The ceiling will be decorated with inkjet paintings of blue sky and white clouds. The walls will feature a stone-like coating, while the ground is to be paved with white granite.
Its 20-m (22-yd) entrances and exits, equipped with LED wall wash lighting, will emit white lights and switch to colors during festivals. The 50-m (55-yd) midsection will use wall washers to illuminate the ceiling and linear lamps to light the ground. Swimming marine animals will be projected on both walls of this section.
Upon completion, the three additional tunnels will break gridlocks on north-south Yingbin Road and further alleviate traffic pressure on downtown Zhuhai.
