Community is the front line of epidemic prevention and control, and each should adopt a gridded management style that goes deep into every household, Guangdong Party Secretary Li Xi said at Huafa New City in Zhuhai on Feb 12.

The provincial party leader also visited Livzon Pharmaceutical Group, Gree Electric Appliances, and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port to review epidemic prevention and control and resumption of production.

Li held discussions with epidemic prevention workers and volunteers, CPC Party members, management staff, and policemen in the Huafa community. He also checked account books, temperature detection, disinfection, science popularization work, and material supply. The community in Nanping Town of Xiangzhou District, has a population of 50,000 from across the country and over 1,000 expats from more than 30 countries and regions.

Concerning inbound travelers, Li visited the Entry Hall of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port. He stressed the importance of enhanced contact with Hong Kong and Macao to improve joint prevention and control of border crossings.

Li also toured labs, workshops, and warehouses at Livzon Pharmaceutical Group in Jinwan District to examine the company’s products and production capacity. A coronavirus nucleic acid test kit developed by the reagent manufacturer is now in full production.

Elsewhere, domestic household appliance giant Gree Electric Appliances in Qianshan produced a batch of infrared thermometers during Spring Festival. Li examined the company's preventative measures as well as its arrangements and progress since work resumed there on Feb 10.

According to Gree, the number of on-duty employees reached 11,000 on the first day of resumption. Its production capacity will be further increased as more staff return.

Li encouraged both Gree and Livzon to meet the need for epidemic prevention and control products and daily necessities relying on their strengths in R&D and production.

Zheng Yanxiong, secretary-general of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee; Zhuhai Party Secretary Guo Yonghang; and Wu Shi, secretary-general of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, accompanied Li during the investigation.
