Construction crews are back on the job at Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport Terminal II in Jinwan District, the Jitimen Grand Bridge in Doumen District, Hengqin Science City, and other major project sites in the city.

Equipment for the terminal foundation pit is in place at the airport. Two dozen management personnel, excepting two in Hubei Province, are on duty. Twenty construction workers have returned, while the remaining 15 will be back by Feb 25. More equipment and laborers will be supplemented later to get back on schedule.

Those who enter the construction site must have temperatures taken and be registered. The staff dormitory, office, and living areas are disinfected daily. A two-story prefabricated building is used for the medical observation of returned migrant workers.

In addition, 3,400 medical masks, 290 kg of disinfectants, 70 hand sanitizers, 20 mercury thermometers, five infrared thermometers, and 47 bottles of medicinal alcohol have been purchased to protect the workers.

With the second terminal, the airport will be able to handle 198,000 flights, 27.5 million passengers, and 104,000 tons of cargo and mail annually by 2027.

Construction of the Jitimen Grand Bridge along the Doumen-Jinwan border resumed on Feb 19. To ensure the safety of its 104 employees, CRCC Harbor & Channel Engineering Bureau Group purchased masks, thermometers, and disinfectants and conducted anti-epidemic training.

In addition, meals are now given to workers one by one to avoid large gatherings in the canteen. Work areas and sheds are also disinfected thoroughly. Anyone with symptoms will be isolated in a separated zone.

The first grand bridge connecting Doumen and Jinwan over the Jitimen Waterway will help integrate Western Eco-New Town spanning both districts as well as Gaolan and Hezhou when the span opens by this summer.

Elsewhere, construction of Hengqin Science City has also resumed. More than half of its employees, including 150 management staff and 260 workers, are back on duty, according to project operator Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Property.

Costing 40 billion yuan ($5.7 billion), the modern industrial park will eventually cover 700,000 sq m (173 acres). Phase I encompasses a hotel, commercial center, kindergarten, residences, and community support facilities. The second phase is to be a blend of offices, businesses, and leisure areas, while the third will consist of office areas, biomedicine R&D buildings and support facilities, and staff dormitories.

Construction has also resumed on other key Hengqin projects such as the Civic Service Center, High-Caliber Talent Apartment Phase II, International Science & Technology Innovation Center, Advanced Intelligent Computing Center, and Big Hengqin Mt and Jiangjun Mt tunnels.
