Anyone arriving in Zhuhai via Gongbei, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Hengqin, or Wanzai checkpoints must to undergo 14-day quarantine at home or in designated hotels in efforts to contain the global corona virus disease (COVID-19).

As of Thursday, all inbound Chinese returnees and foreign nationals who, within 14 days prior to arrival, came in from countries with grave pandemic situations will be quarantined. The 19 countries are South Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan, Germany, France, the US, Spain, the UK, Thailand, the Philippines, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, and Malaysia.

At the Arrival Hall, travelers will declare their health conditions and cooperate with body-temperature checks and inquiry about travel history, which will be re-checked at immigration inspection areas based on passports, visas, and stamps.

Meanwhile, thorough epidemiological, medical, and lab scrutiny will also be carried out. Customs will run free nucleic acid tests on all travelers in collaboration with the Zhuhai Health Bureau and share results with other authorities.

Confirmed and suspected cases, plus people with suspicious symptoms or who have had close contact with confirmed patients, will be transferred, quarantined, and put under medical observation.

Those arriving in Zhuhai via out-of-province checkpoints will be included into the gridded community management and subjected to regular body-temperature checks and health monitoring.

People must pay for their own meals, accommodations, and any expenses incurred during mandatory quarantine. Initial expenses of confirmed cases will be balanced out by basic medical and critical illness insurances and medical aid, while the remainder will be subsidized with regional fiscal resources. Those with a business health insurance can be compensated under an insurance company based on contracts.

However, people not covered by medical insurance are liable for the expense themselves. Exceptions may be made for those facing financial difficulties.
