Flights will be shortened up to 20 minutes due to shorter distance and no need to fly over or bypass downtown Beijing, according to China Southern Airlines Zhuhai.
The distance between Beijing Daxing International Airport's terminal center to the farthest boarding gate is 600 m (656 yd) at the maximum, or an eight-minute walk. Electronic boarding passes and self-service luggage machines will help travelers cut their stay at the terminal building by 19 minutes than they would experience at the Capital International Airport.
Located 46 km (28.6 miles) south of downtown Beijing, Daxing International Airport was designed with a future annual capacity of 100 million passengers to relieve pressure on the overcrowded Capital International Airport in a northeastern suburb.
