Volunteers planted 68 fast-growing tree seedlings on April 3 in anticipation of the second phase of Xiangshan Lake Park opening to the public by the May Day holiday.

Zhuhai Xiangzhou Zhengfang Holdings organized the placements of 39 bauhinia variegate, 24 giant crape myrtle (lagerstroemia speciosa), and five sweet-scented osmanthus. They are all said to flower and feature long florescence.

In addition to the year-round blooms, a sightseeing pavilion and 3,000-sq-m (3,588-sq-yd) lake have been created at the entrance of the new section off Shixi Road across from Huafa Four Seasons residential community.

A Lingnan-styled waterside pavilion and old-fashioned covered bridge now adorn the landscape. In addition, there are lush eaglewood, delonix regia, musa basjoo, and a bamboo forest, all naturally grown on Fenghuang Mt and nurtured by professional gardeners. A waterfall winds down the mountain to mirroring green waters.

Moreover, the 1-km (1,094-yd) lake-circling walkway will lead to Phase 1 of the park off Jianmin Road north of West Meihua Road and east of Zhuhai Number 1 High School, which opened last January. Phase 1 has a 2,400-m (1.5-mile) track, tourist service center, bicycle lane and footpath, lotus pond, covered corridors, entertainment-oriented docks, and refreshment facilities.
