Borders open longer as Macao sees no new infections

Updated: 2020-05-07

Customs clearance service at Zhuhai and Macao borders has been operating at regular hours since May 3 and as of May 6, Macao reported that 40 of 45 hospitalized COVID-19 patients had recovered and been discharged and there have been no new confirmed cases for 28 consecutive days.

Macao Customs stressed that the adjustments do not involve Hong Kong and that precautionary anti-epidemic measures at Zhuhai-Macao border stations remain in force.

In response, service hours at exit-entry passenger clearance halls and vehicle inspection channels at Gongbei Checkpoint, which open at 6 am, have been extended to close at 1 the next morning instead of 10 pm.

Service at Passenger Vehicle Inspection channels and the Car Appliance Crew Inspection Hall of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is now operating 24 hours rather than from 6 am to 10 pm while that at the Zhuhai-Macao Exit-Entry Passenger Clearance Hall now opens at 8 instead of 10 am, and closes at 10 as opposed to 9 pm.
