Jianfeng Mt Forest and Phase II of Huangyang River Wetland parks south of the major downtown area in Doumen District will soon open to visitors after having been made more suitable for sightseeing, rest, and entertainment.

Landscaping of 26,000 sq m (6 acres) in Jianfeng Mt Forest Park near Jing'an Town began a year ago in March and is almost finished. The attraction is a key element of Jianfeng Mt Central Park and Guangdong's largest provincial forest park.

A 1,390-sq-m (.34-acre) tourist service center was constructed while the surrounding environment was enhanced and improvements made to the main entrance gate, square, mountaintop fire retention pond, and sightseeing stand. Upgrades were also made to the mountain back road entrance and uphill road to the north behind Jianfeng Village.

First opened in 1995, Jianfeng Mt Forest Park adjoins the Huangyang River south of Doumen urban areas on Zhufeng Avenue at its southeast bank and covers 117 hectares (422.6 acres) of biological diversity. 

Nearby, the second phase of Huangyang River Wetland Park comprises 56 hectares (138 acres) between the Shengshichong and Zhengchong rivers. The second phase calls for slow riverside passages, sightseeing bridges, a mangrove forest, bird-watching wooden cabins, ecological revetment, a wharf, and support facilities.

Wetland conservation, leisure, and sightseeing are to foster harmonious coexistence with nature. The project will cost 183.7 million ($26 million).

The park is a significant part of the "One River-Two Banks-Five Clusters" sightseeing belt and municipal greenway demonstration project. The first phase opened last October with sections named Wenhua (Culture) Dou, Ziran (Nature) Dou, and Shengtai (Ecology) Dou.

Situated at the southwest side of the Jianfeng Bridge on the south extension line of Xidi Road, it also is known as Sandou Wetland Park.
