It has been made official that the Nansha-Zhongshan-Zhuhai Intercity MRT (extension of Guangzhou's Metro Line 18) will connect to the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT via the under-construction Cuiheng Railway Station in Zhongshan.

The decision was revealed May 23 in the draft Regulatory Detailed Planning for Western Hot Spring Resort in Nanlang Town of Zhongshan City.

Cuiheng Railway Station is located in an uninhabited area of Xiasha Village of Nanlang Town, Zhongshan. It is 5.5 km (3.4 miles) south of Nanlang Railway Station, 550 m (601 yd) from the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Expressway East Line, 1.5 km (1 mile) from the central area of Cuiheng Village, and 4.3 km (2.7 miles) due north of Zhuhai North Railway Station in Jinding Town.

The railway station is expected to be completed by Aug 30, and joint debugging and commissioning is scheduled for September. An opening date prior to the Oct 1 National Day holiday will be set by Guangdong Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT and the Zhongshan Municipal People's Government.

North-south Metro Line 18 will run from Nansha's Wanqingsha and cross the Pearl Bay Area, Panyu Square, Pazhou, Zhujiang New Town, and Guangzhou East Railway Station. Guangzhou has gotten its extension line placed into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Intercity MRT Construction Plan, according to a brief on the 2019 major works of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government posted on its official website in March.

Zhuhai Mayor Yao Yisheng meanwhile pledged accelerated construction of the Nansha-Zhongshan-Zhuhai Intercity MRT at a panel discussion of Guangdong deputies to the 3rd Session of the 13th National People's Congress on May 23.
