A Passenger Depot with a large selection of coaches and buses came into operation Aug 18 concurrently with the new Hengqin Checkpoint with connections to downtown Zhuhai and other cities in Guangdong Province.

Located on the B1 floor of the Joint Inspection Building at 2050 East Huandao Road, the Passenger Depot is jointly managed by Zhuhai Xinhe Long-Distance Passenger Transportation, Da Heng Qin Checkpoint Industrial, and Gongbei Passenger Depot.

The First-Grade Category-C national hub station operates around 400 express coaches from 7 am to 10 pm daily that can serve 10,000 passengers. Most are bound for other Pearl River Delta cities and western Guangdong.

Using "intelligent management," the depot processes automatic recognition of license plates, electronic information screening, self-service ticket purchases, and voucher printing. Travelers can check in using facial recognition.

The 14,000-sq-m (3-acre) facility has six ticket windows, three check-ins, 44 parking, 10 departure, and four de-boarding stalls. There is also a Tourist Distribution Center, waiting lounge for key passengers, baby care room, package lockers, supermarket, restaurants, 24-hour surveillance system, and WiFi.

In addition to coaches, it is served by city Buses 14, 62, 86, 87, 88, 89, K10, K11, N20, 826-3, Z51, Z52, Z50, and Z55 accessing destinations in downtown Zhuhai.

Stations along the Zhuhai Airport Urban Rail Transit Phase I section (except for Wanzai, which is not yet operational) opened the same day and are frequented by 27 bus routes.

Travelers at Zhuhai Station in Gongbei can take Buses 1, 2, 10, 32, 33, 89, 601, 826-2, 826-3, and Z15 plus the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port express line. Those departing Wanzai North can choose from Buses 5, 14, 60, 61, 62, 86, 87, 89, 826-3, K10, K11, N20, or Z30 at Hongjing Garden (Hongjing Huayuan) and Wanzai stops.

South Nanwan Road (Nanwan Nanlu) stop near Shizimen Station is reached by Buses 14, 61, 62, 86, 87, N20, and Z30. Passengers at Hengqin North Station can take Z51, while people at Hengqin Chimelong station can take Z55.

Hengqin Station travelers going in the Hengqin New Homes direction can choose from 14, 89, K10 and Z52 at Intercity MRT Hengqin stop, 62, 86, 88, K11, 826-3, N20, Z50, Z51 and Z55 at East Hengqin Checkpoint stop if heading for Hengqin Ferry Terminal or new Hengqin Checkpoint.
