Wetland wonderland imagined with park expansion
Formation of the Doumen Huangyang River Wetland Park Phase II will begin next June for purposes of conservation, demonstration, leisure, sightseeing, and tourism.
Costing 184 million yuan ($27 million), the 560,000-sq-m (138-acre) park is located south of the first phase between the Shengshichong and Zhengchong waterways in Xinqing Section, Doumen District. The Hefengchong and Wufuchong rivers run through it to merge into the Huangyang River.

According to the preliminary design, the park will be an ecological oxygen bar with forests, grasslands, and coastal paddy fields. It will consist of six sections: Shatian Songs, Cedar Causeway, Lotus Pond, Glazed Beach, Flower Field, and Winding Creek.
Proposed are 24 attractions including a wharf, rocky beach, children's activity area, and sightseeing boardwalks. Chinese-style bridges named Hefeng, Yueluo, Guitian, Changwan, Songying, Huanhua, Chaosheng, Wolu, and Yuexi will also be built.
Other works will involve landscaping, water supply and drainage, electric engineering, and "intelligent" systems.
The first phase of Huangyang River Wetland Park opened to visitors on Sept 29, 2019. It is the first large wetland park in Doumen with all-around facilities for ecological sightseeing, popular science, and fitness-leisure activities.
