Construction is underway of another Zhuhai Avenue underpass, this one at the intersection of the recently named Guangnan Road (formerly 10th Pingxi Road) in Nanping Town to allow motorists to reverse direction.

Guangnan Road will cross beneath Zhuhai Avenue and connect with 1st Shui'an Road of the Huafa Riverside Residential Community in the north to Hongwan Avenue in the south.

Currently, the 4th Pingdong Road, Hongwan Flyover, and East Zhuhai Bridge U-turn tunnels along Zhuhai Avenue are insufficient, according to Liu Mingzhe from the 2nd Engineering Management Department of the Zhuhai Highway Affairs Center.

The new tunnel will also facilitate travel between enterprises in Nanping Science & Technology Industrial Park and residents north and south of Zhuhai Avenue, and allow vehicles to use auxiliary lanes to directly enter Zhuhai Avenue.

To avoid traffic congestion, motorists traveling between the city's east and west wings can use the Honghe Bridge, which will open next month, said project head Gao Ruimin.
