Hebao (Hope) Island Scenic Area has been temporarily closed to tourists during unspecified maintenance that began Oct 15 and will continue until April 1, according to the operator.

Situated just outside Gaolan Port in Jinwan District, the tourist attraction has eight bays and 12 beaches. Da'nan Bay, at 4,000 m (4,374 yd), is the longest of any on the 146 Zhuhai islands. Other attractions of the subtropical island include Butterfly Valley, Hebao Fishing Village, and the remnants of a military base.

Visitors can admire picturesque rainforests, sea vistas, and year-round blooms, while camping, hiking, swimming, rock angling, or playing beach soccer once the scenic area reopens.
