Already home to a luxury resort hotel, the Yinkeng Peninsula in south Tangjiawan is destined to also house a cultural center, library, another hotel, and large parking lot as part of a high-quality cultural and art landmark in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Design of the project -- Yinkeng Peninsula (Zhuhai Culture & Art Center) -- is sought by the National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) Administrative Committee, Zhuhai Natural Resources Bureau and Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Bureau. The public notice will be released by the Zhuhai Public Resource Trading Center soon and the international bidding process will open in late March, it was announced at a Dec 21 press conference.

The Yinkeng Peninsula is situated between Fenghuang and Tangjia bays at the southern end of the Hi-Tech Zone in Xiangzhou District. It juts out from Lovers Avenue and is easily seen across Fenghuang Bay from Zhuhai Opera House on Yeli Island and Zhuhai Museum & Planning Exhibition Hall. The plan is to make Yinkeng a major urban public space along with Yeli Island and Jingshan Park.

Tian Jianhua, deputy director of the Natural Resources Bureau, said the peninsula has a prominent natural environment between Fenghuang Mountain and the enveloping sea. The long and narrow shoreline in the north, as well as mountains and beaches in the east are rated ideal for public activities.

The overall urban design of the 35-hectare (86-acre) plot must integrate local resources and anticipate a transportation network in harmony with the mountain, sea, and city. Functions of the cultural center and library are to be the equivalent of advanced venues around the globe.

A 500-bed or two 300-bed high-end business/convention hotels will be built along with a parking lot to accommodate at least 1,000 vehicles. Residences and quasi-residences are prohibited in the public space.

On East Quanxin Road, near the southern peninsula tip, the five-star Angsana Zhuhai Phoenix Bay hotel opened in 2018. The resort has 200 ocean-view guestrooms, a watersports center, outdoor swimming pool, jet pool, garden, outdoor terrace dining, and Chinese pink dolphin miniature exhibit.
