Tourism revenue of 384 million yuan ($59 million) was generated by 512,300 revelers during the Jan 1-3 New Year holiday, according to the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Bureau.
Government statistics show that most of the tourists came from other Guangdong cities, followed by locals and out-of-province travelers. Of the non-locals, 163,800 stayed at paid accommodations.
Theme parks in Hengqin New Area remained extremely popular by offering plenty of activities. In addition to daily activities on the water, Chimelong International Ocean Resort staged fireworks and an unmanned aerial vehicle show at the stroke of New Year.

Sumlodol Hengqin Camping Town caused a sensation with an outdoor Electronic Music Festival held away from the hustle and bustle, while Hengqin National Geographic Ultimate Explorer invited more than 30 children to paint an "Ecological Home" using their imaginations.
Meanwhile, a Jinwan route of the Zhuhai Sightseeing Bus began running Jan 1. Three double-deckers themed "Inheritance," "Rejuvenation," and "Taking Off" came into operation, bringing together local rural rejuvenation efforts, aviation science and technology, and intangible folk culture heritages. Stops en route include Jinshan Park, Aviation New Town, Jinwan's Lovers Avenue, and Golden Gulf Golf Club.
The mountainous Crane Trail demonstration in Mutouchong Village of Sanzao Town also opened Jan 1 along with the Blue Sea (Lanhai) Flower Fair. Many tourists were attracted by both the nature walk and flower show.
Under epidemic prevention and control, the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Bureau urged tourist attractions to cap visitor numbers and prioritize reservations and off-peak attendance. Tourists were required to present health codes, have temperatures taken, and wear masks.
