Contemporary animal paintings on show at Xiangshan
An exhibition of 16 animal-themed paintings is free to visitors 10 am to 6 pm Tuesdays to Sundays this month at Xixin Waterside Pavilion in Xiangshan Lake Park Phase II in New Xiangzhou.
The works were produced over three years by emerging contemporary artists Chu Yongchao and Yi Shengbo. Both are prolific in painting aspects of the natural world.

Chu, a young painter from Changchun of Jilin Province, integrates Chinese concepts into European classic painting. Most of his works are oils on canvas and present animals in a realistic way against abstract backdrops. He draws horse portraits with vivid bearings and subtle details and his works have been star items at 10 auctions.
Yi uses meticulous Chinese (Gongbi painting) brushwork to display the unique composure of animals and has garnered special awards at contemporary art exhibitions.
