Variegated blossoms beautify Sea & Sky Park expanses
A roadside sweep of camellias, bougainvillea glabra (paperflower), daisy-like coreopsis, and rapeseed are in blossom at Sea & Sky (Haitian) Park in Old Xiangzhou.
The camellia corridor stretches 118 m (387 ft) near the East Meihua Road entrance across from the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Between East Meihua Road and Central Lovers Avenue north of the Zhuhai Museum & Urban Planning Exhibition Hall are 200 camellia species with red, pink, yellow, and white petals; many rarely seen elsewhere. They should flower into March. Nearby is a 100-m (109-yd) corridor of paperflower grafted to show motley colors.
In addition, there is a sea of 25,000 pink coreopsis in front of the Botanical Garden, closely bordering a field of 30,000 rapeseed flowers. Visitors can admire the flowers from shaded benches in a 400-sqm (478 sqyd) leisure area outside the garden, while transparent panels make the indoor leisure area suitable for taking photos.
The Botanical Garden is admission-free from 10 am to 8 pm daily except Mondays. Installed with characteristic atmosphere lamps, it attracts visitors on any evening.
