Tourism revenue totaled 859 million yuan ($133 million) as 1.33 million tourists celebrated the week-long Spring Festival holiday (Feb 11-17) in Zhuhai. The Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Bureau also reports that 335,500 visitors stayed overnight due to discounts for accommodations and scenic spots.

This compares to Spring Festival 2019, well before the COVID-19 epidemic, when the city recorded 2.19 million visitors and tourism revenue of 1.53 billion yuan ($2.4 billion).

This year, attractions in Hengqin New Area included a Chimelong International Ocean Resort float parade, and Sumlodol Hengqin Camping Town lanterns, fireworks, and intangible cultural dough figurine-making, Sichuan Opera face-changing, tea art, and sweet tastings with interactive games.

Ocean Spring Resort in Jinwan District entertained revelers with lion dances, wish-making trees, and folk customs. Meanwhile, Doumen's Yu Wen Quan Imperial Hot Springs Resort highlighted folk art, customs, and artifacts. The New Yuanming Palace in the Lanpu Community of Gongbei staged an exhibition of world-renowned vintage vehicles, as well as interactive scene plays.

The 2021 Go for the Better flower exhibition attracted millions of visitors to Haibin, Yeli Island, Bailiandong (White Lotus Cave), and five other municipal parks, with daily visitor volume peaking at 218,000 for the Feb 12 Chinese Lunar New Year.

Haibin Park in Jida, which received 95,000 visitors on Feb 12, was the most popular. It had daily volume averaging more than 50,000, according to staff of Zhuhai Yuehua Landscaping Construction Management, which supervised the flower exhibition.

Old Post Roads, ancient Tangjia and Doumen towns, Yang Paoan Exhibition Hall, former residences of famous people, and museums across the city welcomed crowds of history and culture enthusiasts.

Fine weather during the holiday saw many people embark on countryside tours of Jinwan and Doumen districts to take in natural scenery, pick fruits and vegetables, and enjoy a leisurely pace.
