Pandemic prevention and controls remain in full force for personnel arriving in Zhuhai from outside China, cross-border truck drivers, and on imported frozen foods and cold chain products.

Despite having low-risk for COVID-19 contagion, the city stands by its pandemic policies for people returning after the Spring Festival holiday, Huang Yun, deputy director of the Zhuhai Health Bureau, said at a Feb 23 press conference.

It was clarified that residents can travel freely within Guangdong Province with a green "Yuekang Code," normal body temperature, and adequate personal protection. A nucleic acid test taken within seven days is a must, however, for ones released from quarantine and those working in key industries. In addition to cross-border truck drivers, these include crew members of ships to and from Hong Kong and Macao, cross-border fishermen, quarantine officials, fever clinic staff, workers in direct contact with imported cold-chain goods, and international flight crews.

Those who have been to medium- or high-risk areas in China within the past 14 days or have traveled overseas within the past 21 days (or fewer than seven days after the quarantine is lifted), are required to have a nucleic acid test before departure to Zhuhai.

They also need to report to work units, hotels, or communities, avoid going to public or crowded places, take protective measures, and make personal health declarations on the Yue Sheng Shi Mobile Government Service Platform.

Travelers from cities with medium- and high-risk areas are advised to take a nucleic acid test within seven days of departure. Three days in advance, returnees from other Chinese provinces should report to destination villages or communities their arrival time, 14-day travel history, occupation, and contact information .

Domestic anti-pandemic regulations require that those returning from rural areas outside the province through March 8 must provide a nucleic acid test result within seven days and go through certain health-management procedures.

Everyone returning to Zhuhai should abide by the latest pandemic prevention and control regulations. Those showing symptoms such as fever and cough are to wear medical masks and go to the nearest fever clinic for treatment.

Zhuhai provided 200-yuan ($31) coupons for the 443,900 migrant workers who remained in the city for the holiday, totaling 86 million yuan ($13 million). As of Feb 21, over 94 percent of workers at citywide enterprises had returned to work, according to Li Bangyao, deputy director of the Municipal Human Resources & Social Security Bureau.

In addition, primary and secondary schools across Zhuhai reopened in an orderly manner, and local universities and colleges will reopen in batches between Feb 19 and March 7 in accordance with the School Resumption Plan announced Feb 9 by the Zhuhai Municipal Education Bureau.
