Passenger throughput at Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport returned to normal after dropping by 7 percent year-on-year to 677,000 during the Spring Festival travel rush from Jan 28 to March 8 as most people stayed put in line with domestic epidemic prevention and control measures.

Although passenger numbers were down, the number of flights began climbing up Feb 16 and reached a crescendo Feb 26 as a huge number of university students returned after Lantern Festival. In all, 6,264 flights were made in and out of Zhuhai during the 40-day period, a year-on-year increase of 2 percent. The average flight punctuality rate was 97.13 percent.

The airport had strengthened disinfection of public areas, facilities, and equipment and improved the disposal of medical waste, management of fevered passengers, protection of staff members, and information releases related to flight changes. Travelers were subject to body temperature measurement, health QR code presentation, and social distancing to ensure smooth travel.
