Qingmao Checkpoint (New Guangdong-Macao Channel) opened Sept 8 with pedestrians whisking through in 20 seconds to conveniently transfer to trains, buses, taxis, or self-owned vehicles.

A stilted weatherproof corridor runs 480 m (525 yd) between the checkpoint and Intercity MRT Zhuhai Station. The second floor of the 20-m (22-yd) wide corridor leads to Macao and the third floor to Zhuhai.

Travelers can access Buses G10, 1, 30, 31, 34, 82, Z15, and B1 at a terminal 300 m west of the checkpoint, or choose other buses at nearby Intercity MRT Zhuhai Station or Gongbei Checkpoint. Free rides from the west side of Gongbei Checkpoint are provided to Qingmao-bound passengers.

In addition, four express lines are tentatively to be open to Oct 8. Express Line 1 runs through Xin'an Spring Garden residential community in Zhongshan's Tanzhou Town, Jiechong, Lixi, Tanzhou Road intersection, Intercity MRT Mingzhu and Qianshan stations, Cuiwei, Mingzhu Commercial Plaza, and Qiaoguang Primary School. The frequency is 10 to 30 minutes, and the ticket costs 3 yuan (46 cents).

Express Line 2 passes through Nanxi Passenger Depot in Shangchong, Jinshan City, Continental New Village, Huicui Manor, Zhong'ao New City, and Zhong'ao Lizhu Garden residential communities, Tongsheng Heyi Market, the Nanping Bridge, and Nanping.

Express Line 3 routes through Zhuhai College of Science & Technology in Jinwan District, Sanzao, Yuetang, and Dongju.

Express Line 4 will stop at Jinwan's Aviation New Town, Guangdong Polytechnic of Science & Technology, Zhuhai Art College, Huxin Road intersection, Guangsheng, and Nanping Street Intersection.

A taxi drop-off site at the Intercity MRT Zhuhai Station's underground transfer center is 200 m (219 yd) from the checkpoint's main entrance, and the pick-up site is in front of the Intercity MRT Zhuhai Station square. Motorists can park at Intercity MRT Zhuhai Station and nearby Charming City.

The Macao side has six bus stops covering 12 daytime and four nighttime routes, and there are also taxi pick-up and drop-off sites as well as five nearby public parking lots with spots for 4,782 vehicles.

Located at the Canal de Patos on the border of Zhuhai's Maoshengwei and Macao's Ilha Verde, 800 m (half a mile) southwest of the bustling Macao Frontier Post exit to Gongbei, Qingmao Checkpoint greatly facilitates travel for Zhuhai-Macao residents and cross-border workers and alleviates pressure on Gongbei Checkpoint during rush hours. Travelers queue and have documents examined only once with average customs clearance time of 20 seconds.
