Three-dimensional news coverage of the upcoming 13th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition was announced at a Sept 14 launch ceremony for both the event itself and the "Cloud Airshow."

China Media Group, which comprises China Central Television, China National Radio, and China Radio International, will work with regional journalists and senior military experts to report on China's aerospace and national defense achievements. Cloud functions using augmented and virtual reality will present the exhibition site live, let viewers virtually enter the conference and forum site at any time, and allow them to simultaneously watch aerobatic shows and ground equipment dynamic demonstrations.

Journalists from Beijing and Chongqing municipalities, and Guangdong, Anhui, Sichuan, and Jiangsu provinces, and elsewhere will present exclusive, in-depth news reports and special programs. These, it was announced, will "create a sound, spread, effective theme of publicity activities and all-round display of China's aerospace and national defense equipment development of brilliant achievements for Airshow China."

China Media Group coverage will integrate traditional reports with live-streaming and short videos during the Sept 28 to Oct 3 show. A Smart Airshow App will be released by Zhuhai Airshow so that real-time aerobatic performances, dynamic demonstrations of ground equipment, conferences, and forums may be viewed online relying on technologies like 5G, VR, and AR.

Gao Yang, deputy editor-in-chief of China Media Group, said multimedia productions will be promoted on State-owned television channels, websites, WeChat, Weibo, and mobile apps. In addition to regular reporting, he noted, the group will also customize in-depth programs with live broadcasts, short videos, and other new media forms.

Zhuhai Airshow chairman Sun Jiefeng said this year's large-scale event has 700 enterprises from 40 countries and regions with cutting-edge exhibits. Indoor exhibition space has expanded to 100,000 sqm (25 acres) with three additional exhibition halls at Zhuhai Airshow Center west of Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport. Outdoor exhibition area covers 360,000 sqm (89 acres). High-quality services are in place to ensure a safe, orderly, successful, and high-level event that demonstrates the further opening up of China.

Since its inception in 2004, the pre-show media event, "Airshow China Long Journey," has been held eight times and produced hundreds of multimedia productions that have shown the rapid development of China's aerospace and national defense industries.
