This year's Zhuhai Design Week & Design Trip opened Saturday and continues through year end with 77 online and offline events focusing on urban, industry, and public welfare designs citywide. 

Themed "City of Happiness: Design, Science & Life," an online forum and exhibition has become a two-way channel for conventional and digital exhibition platforms without limitations of time, space, and site.

Free-of-charge on-site tours, expert lectures, and face-to-face interactions concerning cutting-edge designs in Zhuhai are held at 15 venues. Among them are the Superstatic Cave Laboratory of Sun Yat-sen University's Tianqin Space-Based Gravitational Wave Research project, China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA)'s Jinwan plant, Rossini Watch Museum, Shizimen Central Business District, Wu Yong (Useless) Hand Spinning-Weaving Inheritance & Practice Hall, and Xiangsha Lake Park.

The event is to become an international showcase of communication, promotion, exhibition, and education. It is to boost the design industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area while upgrading the city's global influence.

Huafa Group, one of the organizers, will help build innovative platforms for urban development and form benign intercity interactions in cultural creative design to promote moderate diversification of Macao's economy, the Greater Bay Area, and Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. 

The event is sponsored by the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government. Other organizers are Beijing Gehua Culture Development Group, Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations, and Macao Design Center.

Zhuhai Design Week has attracted a thousand experts and professionals, 200 exhibition institutions, and 100,000 visitors from 20 countries and regions since its inception in 2018. 

Last year's event brought a direct economic benefit of 33 million yuan ($5.2 million) to Zhuhai and additional operating revenue of 844 million yuan ($132.5 million) to the service sector above designated size.
