Macao investors began setting up companies this week in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin without leaving their locality.

A "cross-border handling" work mechanism for commercial registration was launched April 12 by the Cooperation Zone's Commercial Services Bureau and Macao Trade & Investment Promotion Institute. Macao investors can inquire about and handle whole-process business registration affairs related to the cooperation zone at a Macao Office at 5 Travessa da Paiva.

Tiago Vilhena, a partner of MdME Lawyers, filed a cross-border application for a new company in Hengqin, submitted materials, and printed the business license on a self-service machine in the Macao office on Tuesday. The measures facilitate local enterprises and promote Macao investors to start businesses in Hengqin, noted Vilhena.
