Steel structure capped at Hengqin Civil Arts Center
Steel structure construction on the Hengqin Civil Arts Center was completed on Aug 8 after 330 days of work, while final touches, such as curtain walls, mechanical and electrical installation, as well as interior decoration, will begin to ensure the project's operation in 2023.
More than 22,000 metric tons of steel were used to build the complex's nine-story structure. Two underground floors will also provide 1,000 parking spaces.
The 40,200-sqm (10-acre) complex is enclosed by Small Hengqin Mt, the Tianmu River, and Tianqinyuan City Sports Park. It has a height of 52 m (171 ft) and floorage of 142,600 (35 acres), consisting of a library, cinema, sci-tech museum, gallery, archival center, as well as places for cultural activities, children, teenagers, and seniors.

Continuous vertical planting will be designed in the project to complement the green ecological environment in the Tianmu River area.
As a large cultural landmark in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the complex will fill a need for large-scale cultural infrastructure in Hengqin, expand high-quality living and cultural exchange spaces for Macao residents, as well as bring more convenience for Macao residents to live and work in Hengqin.

Construction on the Hengqin Civil Arts Center has accelerated as its main structure is expected to be capped in July. Once operational in December 2023, the comprehensive venue will serve as public cultural infrastructure in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and bring more convenience for Macao residents living, study, working in Hengqin.
