Cuban ambassador aims high in Cuba-Zhuhai cooperation
Friendly exchanges between Cuba and Zhuhai are expected to be further promoted, said Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez, Cuba's ambassador to China, when visiting Zhuhai on Aug 17 and 18.
The delegation Hernandez led went to Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan), Xiangzhou and Doumen districts, as well as the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. It got a close look at the city's latest development outcomes in its pillar industries of new generation information technology, new energy, as well as smart home appliance and equipment manufacturing.

The ambassador said that Zhuhai enjoys abundant development advantages in areas spanning geographic location, industrial foundation, and business environment. He added that the city has maintained friendly exchanges and cooperation with Cuba for years, as well as that Cuba highly cherishes its friendly cooperation relationship with Zhuhai.
He also expressed hope that Cuba and Zhuhai could deepen exchanges in biological technologies, trade exchanges, and cultural tourism, adding that he will strive to introduce Cuba's cigar cultural industry to Zhuhai.
Li Chong, deputy mayor of Zhuhai, gave a brief overview on the city's basic socio-economic development to the delegation during the visit, noting that Zhuhai has natural advantages in cooperating with Latin American and Caribbean countries as it neighbors Hong Kong and Macao. In addition, the city has been paying continuous attention to the exchanges and cooperation with these countries.
Li also expressed hope that the ambassador's visit could further promote friendly communications between Zhuhai and Cuban cities to help establish more friendship-city relationships. Zhuhai will continue to enhance practical communication and cooperation with Cuba in various areas to make contributions to inject new vitality into the Sino-Cuba relationship.
