The 1,127.04-hectare (2,485-acre) south expansion area of Hongqi Town Industrial Park in Jinwan District will become an industrial service base for advanced manufacturing that will be a leader in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to the detailed plans posted on the Zhuhai Natural Resources Bureau's website.

The expansion area is encased by Zhuhai Avenue, North Airport and Airport Express roads, and Damenkou Waterway. Zhuhai Avenue connects the area to Gaolan Port Avenue in the east, allowing motorists to have direct access to Gaolan Port and Zhuhai Gaolan Port Comprehensive Free Trade Zone.

The Hezhou-Gaolan Port Expressway that lies south of the area will provide a westward channel to the Huangmao Sea Channel via interchanges, as well as an eastward channel all the way towards the Jiangmen-Zhuhai Expressway, Honghe Bridge, and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

Quick access to Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport will also be available via the two transportation artery networks of North Airport and Airport Express roads.

The expanded area will be built into an ecological industrial park featuring industry-city integration that will emphasize the integrated development of the production, living, and ecological environment. The whole project will include industrial cultivation and innovation, sci-tech innovation, residential, and central landscape vitality areas, as well as five community centers. 

Of note, 285.82 hectares (706 acres) of the land lots, 36.04 percent of the total, will go to industries, while 222.05 hectares (549 acres) of the land will be used to build roads and transportation supporting facilities, accounting for 28 percent of the total area. The residential area will occupy 122.94 hectares (304 acres), while 114.97 hectares (284 acres) of the land lot will be built into green spaces and squares.
