Zhuhai will have 46,800 charging piles for electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025 and 33,800 of them will be for private use, according to the Implementation Plan of Zhuhai's Charging Pile Construction (2022-25) recently released by the municipal Development & Reform Bureau.

Boosting green development, Zhuhai will basically formulate a charging pile infrastructure system with an overall charging service capacity meeting the demands of the city's promotion and application of EVs. 

Information and resources of different enterprises offering charging services will be integrated and open for the public, establishing a unified, open, and standard charging service market.

All newly-built residential communities are required to reserve areas for installing charging piles and the charging interfaces must be close to the parking spaces. 

Power distribution facility for communities under planning for construction must match the operation demands of 25 percent of the charging piles.

No less than 30 percent of the parking spaces in parking lots of new public buildings and public entertainment facilities will be equipped with charging piles. Parking lots run by State-owned enterprises will also equip 30 percent of the parking spaces with charging piles. Pilot application of charging piles with parking meters alongside urban roads will be moved forward. 

EVs conducting fixed routes at checkpoints, ports, buses, and airports will have access to trickle charging piles at parking lots and fast charging piles alongside the routes. 

All national 4A-level scenic areas in Zhuhai, apart from those on islands, are required to have special charging areas for EVs. The ratio of such parking areas is to be over 3 percent in these scenic areas by the end of 2023 with target ratios for 2024 and 2025 set at 5 percent and 10 percent. 

The application of EVs will be further promoted in rural areas and the overage of charging piles in Zhuhai's towns and villages will be increased.
