The Zhuhai delegation of 182 local enterprises has brought 21,845 famous and innovative products and more than 1,400 livestream events to the ongoing 132nd China Import & Export Fair (Canton Fair), which opened online on Oct 15.

China Electronics Zhuhai, a leading foreign trade enterprise based in the city, began live shows at three live studios on the opening day. Livestreaming anchors showcased the enterprise's latest products, such as intelligent heating vests, in English and Spanish. 

Tong Min, assistant general manager of CEC Zhuhai, noted that the enterprise has released many new products catering to global market demands and is looking forward to exploring more business opportunities via the event.

Zeng Yibao, general manager of Zhuhai Super Design Manufacture, said that the Canton Fair has accelerated the enterprise's development to become a global high-end brand for pet products. The enterprise's products have been exported to many overseas countries and regions, Zeng added.

The functions of the Canton Fair's online platform have been optimized and upgraded, with the service time being extended from the original 10 days to five months, providing more new opportunities for international trade and regional cooperation.

Zeng noted that it was a great opportunity for enterprises to better display their products online and have deeper communication with purchasers.

Zhuhai enterprises have received great support from local commerce departments in making full use of the Canton Fair platform, said Guo Xiang, executive vice-president and secretary general of the Zhuhai Import & Export Chamber of Commerce. Skill trainings on online displays, matchmaking, and online negotiations have been held and technical trainings on topics like cross-border e-commerce will be organized. 

The overall import and export volume of Zhuhai's foreign trade in the first eight months of 2022 reached 205.48 billion yuan ($28.58 billion), of which 129.49 billion yuan ($18.01 billion) was contributed by the export business, a 6.1 percent year-on-year increase.

Of note, the export volume of hi-tech products surged during the January-August period with a year-on-year growth of 18.3 percent, reaching 39.58 billion yuan ($5.5 billion) despite the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
