The main bridge of Jitimen Grand Bridge was connected end-to-end on Nov 16, marking a significant milestone in the bridge's construction.

The closure pouring operation of the last section continued for more than 4 hours in the early morning, and about 32 cubic meters of concrete was put into it, which finally achieved the goal of closure of the main bridge of Jitimen Grand Bridge.

The Jitimen Grand Bridge is a controlling node of Phase II of the Hezhou-Gaolan Port Expressway and will start installation of prefabricated beams for approach bridges. It has a combination of three spans, with two having a length of 110 m (120 yds) and the other one having a length of 200 m (219 yds), aiming to ensure that ships can pass under the bridge.

Of note, an expressway service area will be built east of the Jitimen Grand Bridge in Hongqi Town.

The 34.53-km (21.46-mile) Hezhou-Gaolan Port Expressway has dual six lanes, with a maximum speed limit of 100 kmph (62 mph). It is being built in two phases. Phase I, which connects the Honghe Bridge, Jiangmen-Zhuhai Expressway, and Airport Express Road, has been put into operation.

Phase II is 16.48 km (10.24-mile) long and contains bridges, as well as tunnels. It will start from the Dalin Interchange and head west across the Jitimen Waterway, through Lianwan Mt, before connecting the Huangmao Sea Channel and Gaolan Port Express near Pingsha New Town.
