A ground-breaking ceremony for the logistics service base for shuttle buses running on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was held on Nov 22. It is expected to establish a high-quality passenger transport service system upon completion in 2024.

The base is situated in the core area of Zhuhai's urban transportation network, which is close to the Hongwan Interchange, the HZMB's link line, and Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway. It will provide diversified and high-quality services for transport vehicles on the HZMB, meeting the transportation demands of around 250,000 people traveling between Zhuhai and Hong Kong, as well as Zhuhai and Macao in the future.

With a floorage of 52,600 sq m (13 acres), the base will include parking lots, vehicle maintenance workshops, charging piles, warehouses, attendance centers, shuttle bus stations, and passenger distribution centers. 

It can relieve the transportation pressure of the HZMB's artificial island by diverting vehicle and passenger flow to the island along with the Pearl River Delta Ring Expressway and HZMB's link line.

In addition, it can provide emergency traffic support for areas, such as the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, with the HZMB's link line. It will also become a tourist distribution center catering to the diversified travel service demands of passengers in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. 

Xiang Zhaohui, general manager of Zhuhai Bus Group, noted that the station's construction will adhere to high standards to ensure its high quality.
