The initial two-day Hengqin Global Bay Areas Forum opened Tuesday, Nov 30 concerning high-quality lifestyle in the Greater Bay Area, consumer trends, cross-border e-commerce, and policy advantages of the In-Depth Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

It is being followed up by the inaugural China (Macao) High-Quality Consumption Exhibition (CHCE) on Dec 2-4 centered on clothing, food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, entertainment, culture, and health and wellbeing.

Bay Areas Forum

The Wednesday-Friday forum is taking place at Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel in Hengqin. Issues it faces are: the global bay area economy and economic development in the post-pandemic era, scientific and technological innovation, finance, accommodation, big health, sports and leisure, and development of the cultural tourism and MICE industry.

Themed “Cooperation, Innovation, Sharing -- New Trends of Change in the World and New Opportunities for Economy in the Bay Areas,” the main part of the Hengqin Global Bay Areas Forum is scheduled Friday morning. It will address: the latest trends in reshaping the global value chain, the Chinese path to modernization, and joint efforts of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to promote a high-level cycle of "science and technology-industry-finance."

Officials of international financial institutions, global high-quality consumption experts, representatives from the four major bay areas of the world, heads of well-known enterprises, and renowned scholars will attend the main forum.

Four parallel forums will discuss traditional Chinese medicine and big health; culture, tourism, convention and exhibition, and trade; and modern finance. Reports on the Construction of International Consumption Center Cities (2022) & High-Quality Consumption in the Greater Bay Area will be released then.

CHCE

Adopting an innovative mode of “One Exhibition in Two Regions,” the CHCE on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday addresses high-quality life and consumption trends in the Greater Bay Area and policy advantages of the Cooperation Zone in promoting the moderate diversification of Macao's economy. It takes place at the Cotai Expo of The Venetian Macao and the entire Shoppes at Four Seasons.

The 58,000-sqm (12-acre) CHCE exhibition area will have zones for State-owned enterprises, healthcare services, high-quality consumption, and more.

Participating enterprises and brands are in the fields of tourism, aviation, telecommunications, medicine, automobile, home furnishings, and drinks. Leading products, innovative technologies, and technical standards of the exhibitors will be shown. Launching ceremonies for new products, promotion meetings, and trade matchmaking will also be held.

The event is organized by Macao-headquartered Nam Kwong Group, Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, and Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province. It is guided by the Guangdong Province and Macao Special Administrative Region governments, State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission of the State Council, Liaison Office of the Central Government in Macao, and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
