Six major provincial-level projects in Zhuhai, including the Hengqin-Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport section of Zhuhai Airport Urban Rail Transit, are scheduled to start operations this year, officials from the Zhuhai Reform and Development Bureau announced on April 11.

The others are Phase I of the photovoltaic composite project in Sanzao's Yulin Village, Phase II of the comprehensive decontamination of Qianshan River in Xiangzhou District, Jinqin Health Harbor and Sanzao High-end Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park in Jinwan, and Phase II of the Zhuhai Central Grain Depot in Doumen.

Of note, Zhuhai this year welcomed 55 major provincial-level projects with a total investment of 281.83 billion yuan ($40.92 billion), among which 29.31 billion yuan ($4.26 billion) will be completed within 2023. 

For instance, the Zhuhai-Wazilao Tunnel (Zhongshan) section of the Zhuhai-Zhaoqing High-speed Railway was drilled through in early January and the installation of a glass curtain wall in the renovation and expansion project of Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport is now underway. The project is tipped for completion in 2024.

Officials from the Zhuhai Reform and Development Bureau noted these projects will help support Zhuhai's high-quality socioeconomic development, turning the city into a new engine for the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
