A group of international musicians visited Suzhou New District on July 14 to enjoy a concert staged by the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra.
Artists from the United States' Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and the University of Miami spoke highly of the performance.
James Fay, CSO's vice-president, said that the concert thrilled him and it satisfied all his expectations for Chinese folk music.
Fay said that in recent years, they have invited many Chinese orchestras to play traditional Chinese music in Chicago, which is becoming increasingly popular among locals and he had invited the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra to play in Chicago.
The concert is the seventh of the Suzhou orchestra's 2018 Music Season.
Misty Fengqiao, produced by famous Chinese composer Li Binyang, stood out of other pieces in the concert.
The music, which has it name come from a piece of renowned ancient Chinese poetry by Du Mu's about "rambling over Fengqiao in misty drizzle", enthralled the audience and was met with rapturous applause after its conclusion.
The orchestra also played other traditional Chinese songs, such as A Lovely Rose, Jasmine Flower, Dragon Dance and world-known classics, including Roumanian Rhapsody No.1.
Founded on Dec 24, 2017, the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra has more than 90 musicians from over five countries and regions, including the Chinese mainland, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the US, the Chinese orchestra will stage two concerts on July 27 and 28 in Portland.
