Construction of Suzhou Reading School began on Nov 2 in Suzhou New District, Jiangsu province, marking the debut of the century-old British school in China.

Launched by Suzhou Lunhua Education Group and the Reading School, the cooperative school will be a nine-year boarding one consisting of 45 classes with an average class size of 25 students and is expected to open in September 2020.

The school will bring authentic British education to local students and cultivate students with international vision while continuing to introduce traditional Chinese culture.

The two founders will also cooperate in curriculum design, teacher training and teaching management.

Mark Faulkner, member of Reading School board, said at the foundation stone laying ceremony that Reading School is excited about the prospects made possible through the growing relationship with Chinese partners of such proven success.

Lunhua Education Group, a pre-school and elementary education provider and facilitator of international study and foreign talent recruitment, has maintained close ties with prestigious international schools, including Eton College in the United Kingdom and Singapore's Hwa Chong Institution and the newly-built school is the sixth one Lunhua has established in China.
