The SND Cultural and Tourism Group was inaugurated at the first Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Tourism Associations Conference held on Nov 25 in Suzhou New District (SND), Jiangsu province.
The new group aims to explore the integrated development of culture, sport, commercial and tourism sectors in the Suzhou district centered around the SND Cultural and Sports Center as well as seek innovative development in the tourism industry of the YRD region.
Founded in November 2016, the cultural and sports center covers an area of 170,000 square meters, including a cultural center, a library, a gym, an indoor stadium, a fitness center, a film and television center and a commercial center.
The center in the first 10 months of this year entertained more than 1.2 million people and hosted over 400 activities.
Su Jiuhua, president of the SND Cultural and Tourism Group, said at the inauguration ceremony that in the near future, the group will focus on two major areas: investment in cultural and sports activities and hotel management.
Four local hotels are now under the management of the Suzhou group, including Qingshan Hotel, Yuping Keshe Hotel, Element Suzhou Science and Technology Hotel and Suzhou Nikko Hotels International.
The YRD region is traditionally made up of Shanghai, the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, and more recently also the province of Anhui, and is the sixth largest major urban agglomeration in the world by population.
