The Suzhou Chinese Orchestra made its debut in Liechtenstein, a microstate in the middle of Europe, on Jan 27, the seventh stop of the orchestra's European tour to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival.
Under the baton of Chinese conductor Pang Kapang, the orchestra performed classic works, including Spring Festival Overture, Er Quan Ying Yue ('Moon Reflects over the Second Spring'), the Butterfly Dream, and Macao Capriccio.
Thomas, manager of the concert hall, applauded the shows, saying that the ensemble of different Chinese folk instruments sounded wonderful, and that he was already looking forward to seeing the orchestra again in concert.
Sun Nian, chairman of the Chinese association in Liechtenstein said, "We are amazed at such a large-scale performance from the orchestra, and listening to classic melodies from my motherland brings a tear to my eye."
Supported by the China National Arts Fund and the Jiangsu Provincial Arts Fund, the orchestra's European tour promotes Chinese culture abroad and sends the joy of the Lunar New Year to global audiences.
