The Research Institute for Environmental Innovation in Suzhou New District (SND), a subsidiary of the prestigious Tsinghua University, is mainly active in environment-related scientific and technological innovation activities.
It focuses on sharpening professional skills and aims to develop into a comprehensive service organization that not only can commercialize scientific results, but also is of international influence.
The project, attracting a total investment of 340 million yuan ($48 million), is an important platform reflecting SND's efforts to cooperate with leading academies and research institutes.
It is located to the northeast of Wulong Mountain in Suzhou Science and Technology Town and boasts a built-up area of 37,600 square meters, consisting of laboratory buildings, office buildings, and an underground parking lot.
The entire institute, a creative work of Zhuang Weimin, head of the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, was laid out as a quadrangle courtyard, integrating the spirit of Tsinghua University, the cultural elements of Suzhou, and highlighting green and environmental protection features.
