The 11th Jiangsu Rural Tourism Festival kicked off in Shushan village, Tong'an town, Suzhou New District on Sept 26, local media reported.
The opening ceremony attracted over 280 government officials and representatives from tourism companies and media outlets.
The list of 2020 Jiangsu model villages for rural tourism was officially published during the festival, and villages which were rated as national models in promoting rural tourism, including Shushan, the host village of the festival, were awarded. Suzhou also launched its top 10 boutique rural homestays during the festival.
The festival, which will last until the end of October, aims to realize Jiangsu's full market potential in rural tourism and boost its popularity in the Yangtze River Delta region and the country as whole.
Activities include the promotion of model rural tourism villages, exhibitions on intangible cultural heritages and cultural creative products, and stories concerning rural revitalization.
