Schott Glass Technologies (Suzhou) Co was founded in Suzhou New District in 2001 with a focus on glass ceramics, plate glass panels, and medical glass. It was designated a functional organization of multinational corporations in Jiangsu province.
The Asia-Pacific Research and Development Center of Schott was also established at the company.
In addition, a new production line for the ceramization of glass ceramics was put into operation at the Suzhou plant on Jan 19, 2021. It has received about 6 million euros ($7.3 million) in investment and is expected to generate 150 million yuan ($23.2 million) in annual output.
The new production line is the only of its kind outside of Schott's headquarters in Germany and its North America headquarters in the United States, indicating that the production technology and capacity of the Suzhou plant now leads the world. The products will enter the domestic and Asian home appliance markets for microwave ovens, induction cookers, electric pottery ovens, and regular ovens.
The German-based Schott is a leading international technology group involved in specialty glass and glass ceramics. The group has established 34 manufacturing bases and sales offices around the world, and its products have been applied in pharmacies, consumer electronics, and home appliances.
