Suzhou New District has beefed up efforts to attract scientific and technological investment in 2020, local media outlets reported.
The district overfulfilled its goal by bringing in 1,031 innovative companies and 288 projects led by scientific leaders in 2020.
It also accelerated the pace of settling 208 key proojects, which included a project led by the Suzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute that eyes the technological innovation of eletronic functional materials and devices, stereo vision chips developed by Metoak, gynecological tumor imaging diagnosis and treatment equipment developed by Doctor Ma Ding of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and a smart furniture industrial base.
Research institutes that have settled in the district also made eye-catching achievements as they have helped brought in 120 sci-tech companies in 2020 and generated 150 million yuan ($23 million) in technological transfer in the past three years.
The research institute developed by Wego Group and the Chinese Academy of Sciences in last June is one typical example. It has carried out research in fields such as biomedical testing and medical care and aims to become an innovative leader in the domestic market.
