About 10 foreign experts immersed themselves in traditional Suzhou-style Lunar New Year celebrations at the Lingering Garden on Feb 7, local media outlets reported.
The experts, who were from countries like the United States, France, South Korea, Brazil, Nigeria, and Jamaica, took a tour around the classical garden and tried their hands at writing Spring Festival couplets.
"I love everything in Suzhou – its landscape, history and culture, as well as renowned gardens, such as the Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove, and Master-of-Nets Garden," said a French teacher at the local Soochow University who named himself Lu Shande in Chinese and has been working in China for 10 years.
An expert from Nigeria said that it was her first time to attend such a cultural activity.
"I want to continue to live in Suzhou, as it is quite suitable for working, living, and doing research," she said.
The activity was organized by the municipal bureaus of science and technology, as well as landscape and greening management.
