Trains carrying cargo consisting of home appliances and industrial electronic products, worth a total of 40 million yuan ($6.17 million), headed from Suzhou to Europe on Feb 28, local media outlets reported.
A few days earlier, Suzhou also dispatched a freight train to Europe on Feb 13, the second day of Spring Festival, marking a good start to the new lunar year.
The travel routes of freight trains connecting Suzhou and Europe cover more than 30 Asian and European countries, creating a dynamic business network of daily supplies, textiles and fabrics, auto parts, as well as industrial electronic products.
Statistics show that in the first two months of this year, Suzhou has dispatched 60 freight trains to Europe, carrying 32,200 metric tons of goods, with a total value of $287 million, an increase of 131.82 and 146.58 percent respectively.
The Suzhou-Europe freight trains also played an active role in global logistics amid the COVID-19 pandemic last year, with a total of 361 trains traveling between Suzhou and Europe, carrying cargo weighing 230,100 tons and valued at $1.35 billion.
