Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province held the first Taihu East Asian Entrepreneurs Forum on May 17, deepening its economic and trade cooperation with Japan and South Korea, local media reported.
A total of 40 Japanese and South Korean entrepreneur representatives from Suzhou New District, including Kakiuchi Takashi, president of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (China), and Nomamoto Masaya, general manager of Mitsubishi Chemical (China) Commerce and Trade Co, participated in the main forum.
During their visit in Suzhou, they were also invited to visit SND's planning exhibition hall and Taihu Cloud Park, an industrial park for emerging industries like cloud computing, big data, as well as artificial intelligence.
The forum also set up a sub-venue in SND to further promote the event's influence, which attracted more than 150 participants, including representatives of Japanese and South Korean companies, as well as officials from the district's commerce and trade departments and the bonded zone.
Yu Meihua, deputy head of SND, gave an overview of the district's cooperation with Japan and South Korea, as well as detailed the development plan for the district to serve as a demonstration area for China-Japan-South Korea industrial cooperation.
According to Yu, SND is home to 615 Japanese companies and 48 South Korean companies.
Since SND was established 30 years ago, it has formed strong economic and trade cooperation ties with Japan and South Korea, and will continue to deepen industrial cooperation with the two countries, Yu added.
