20 new Japanese investments launched in SND

The launch ceremony for 26 Japanese-funded projects worth a combined 3.8 billion yuan ($596.22 million) in investments was held in Fengqiao sub-district, Suzhou New District on Dec 18, local media outlets reported.

The investors include a number of Japanese enterprises that have been operating in Fengqiao sub-district for more than 20 years, such as NGK Ceramics Suzhou Co, Sumitomo Electric (Suzhou) Electronic Wire Products Co, and Panasonic Automotive Electronics (Suzhou) Co.

Tadashi Nagara, general manager of NGK Ceramics Suzhou Co, expressed his gratitude for the friendly and stable business environment that Fengqiao sub-district has provided amid the COVID-19 pandemic and said he is confident that Japanese enterprises in the district will ride the growth momentum to become bigger and stronger.

An exchange platform known as "Feng Ying" (Chinese枫樱) was launched the same day to improve ties between Japanese enterprises and the local government.

Eight Japanese enterprises that have been operating in Fengqiao sub-district for more than 20 years were honored with special contribution awards at the ceremony.

The Fengqiao sub-district is currently home to more than 200 Japanese enterprises. The annual output value of these enterprises accounted for more than 30 percent of the sub-distrct's total in 2020.
