Construction on the Taihu Lake Photon Center kicked off in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province, on Aug 18, along with the announcement of its general plan and industrial policies.
High-end laser intelligent manufacturing, advanced photonic medical apparatus, and high-performance optical sensing will be the three key areas it SND's development of the photon industry.
SND will also strive to build innovation centers and key laboratories at the national level so as to strengthen its photon industry and realize an industrial value of 100 billion yuan ($14.6 billion) as quickly as possible.
A total of 20 experts, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Zheng Youliao and Wang Lijun, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhou Shouheng and Zhuang Songlin, and academician of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering Wu Xinhua, were employed by SND as expert consultants in the photon industry.
A Taihu Lake Photon Industry Investment Fund, with a capital pool of 10 billion yuan and a first-phase fund of 1 billion yuan, was also launched same day. It will mainly focus on investing in optoelectronic projects so as to develop SND into an industrial innovation hub.
